How to tighten your eyeglasses?
If you wear eyewear regularly, you may find that as you wear them for longer periods of time, they may loosen and become easy to slip off or uncomfortable to wear. Yet for people with vision problems eyeglasses are important. So here are some easy steps on how to tighten the eyeglasses that will help you tighten your frames and restore them to a comfortable fit.
Step 1: Check the screws on your frame
The first step in tightening eyeglasses is to check the screws that hold the frame to the hinge, as well as the screws that hold the end piece and the rim lock of the frame. You can keep a set of screwdrivers toolkits at home, if you don’t have one, you can go to an online or physical optical store to buy a set. Then use a screwdriver to lightly tighten the screws, avoiding overtightening and damaging the frame.
Step 2: Adjust the nose pads
If you wear eyeglasses with gel nose pads, they may likewise become loose over time. If the screws are loose, handle them like step one to tighten them. You can also try to adjust eyeglasses by bending the arms if it is metal material, but never to a lesser extent. However, if the nose pads are uncomfortable to wear because of aging, it is recommended to replace them.
Step 3: Use Ear Pads For Eyeglasses on the Temples
Another solution worth trying is using Ear Pads that go over the temples of your eyeglasses. Common Ear Pads include arm holders, round holders, and ear hooks. Slip these soft, high-quality silicone gadgets over the temple ends to make sure they don't fall out of your ears. The good thing about this solution is that it's easy and doesn't require any specialized tools and skills, and the soft silicone makes for a more comfortable wearing experience.
Step 4: Go to the optical center for some help
If you've tried all of the above and your eyeglasses are still loose, it's time to visit an optician and find an optometrist who can repair your eyewear with professional equipment and skill. An optometrist can repair most eyeglass components, such as frames, screws, and nose pads. Of course, if your glasses can no longer be repaired, you can ask the optical center whether they can still replace them with new ones. If there is a plan, remeasurement of prescription eyeglasses can also be considered.
It can be seen that fastening eyeglasses is not a difficult task. As long as you have some basic tools and simple gadgets like screwdrivers or soft silicone ear pads, you can solve most glasses slipping problems. However, if you've tried a few things yourself and it doesn't make your glasses tighter, it's advisable to seek help from an optometrist at an optician.
